1、历史
该学院成立于1882年，当时是被一群希望建立“长老会学院”的人而创办，旨在建立高层次的学术环境以及文化氛围。黑斯廷斯学院自1916年以来已被高等教育委员会的北环学院和学校协会所认可。
2、校园
黑斯廷斯学院的校区占地面积为109英亩(0.44平方公里)，校区的建筑数量超过40栋。学院的第一个建筑物是McCormick Hall，建于1883年至今仍在使用中。最近增加更多的包括奥斯本家庭综合运动场/ Fleharty教育中心建于2002年，野马村学生公寓{2005}和在2009年年底开业的莫里森里夫斯科学中心。

黑斯廷斯学院颁发文科类以及音乐类本科学位，所提供的课程包括会计、艺术、生物、化学、商科、市场营销、新闻、心理学、哲学、历史、大众传媒、国际关系研究、计算机科学、音乐、政治科学、英语、德语和西班牙语等。
4、荣誉
黑斯廷斯学院被“美国新闻与世界报道”列入美国2010最佳大学，并被“普林斯顿评论”评为“2010年中西部地区的最好的大学”。黑斯廷斯学院也被卡普兰“新闻周刊”列为“美国最有趣的369学校”和华盛顿月刊列为内布拉斯加州的“高级文理学院”黑斯廷斯学院的大学文科拥有一个众所周知的音乐系，其合奏，包括音乐会乐队合奏黑斯廷斯学院合唱团，音乐剧场组合及其他等等。
